Proficiency levels (A1–C2)
A1 — Beginner
German alphabet and pronunciation, basic greetings, numbers, articles (der/die/das), and the present tense. Navigate simple everyday situations.
A2 — Elementary
Talk about your daily routine, family, and hobbies. Learn the past tense (Perfekt), separable verbs, and the basic cases (nominative and accusative).
B1 — Intermediate
Express opinions, describe experiences, and understand the main points of standard speech. Master the dative case, modal verbs, and subordinate clauses.
B2 — Upper-Intermediate
Participate confidently in discussions on complex topics. Understand native-speed media, write formal letters and essays, and use the genitive case and Konjunktiv II.
C1 — Advanced
Use German flexibly and effectively for academic, professional, and social purposes. Produce well-structured texts on complex subjects with nuanced vocabulary.
C2 — Mastery
Understand virtually everything in German. Express yourself spontaneously, precisely, and with stylistic flair in any context.
